Question by Nichole: If I had sex saturday night, how effective should the morning after pill be if i take it tomorrow?

I had sex with my boyfriend saturday night about 9:30 P.M. we used a condom, but i want to take the morning after pill (Plan B) just incase. I plan on going to Planned Parenthood tomorrow during the day to get it. Will it still be effective? I figured i might as well get a prescription there for the birth control pill, and if I do that, will they still let me take the morning after pill?
ok, to be a little clearer, i had sex this past saturday which was yesterday, april 14. it hasn't even been 24 hours. i plan on going tomorrow around 2:30 P.M. to take the pill.

Each day it gets less effective, BUT the morning after pill is effective up to 5 days after unprotected sex.

Go get it tomorrow. They probably can give you a prescription for the pill, too. But, you won't be able to take it for a couple weeks. You could get a blood clot from all the hormones. But, it sounds like you're taking responsibility and making some mature decisions. Hang in there and good luck.

Edit: While PP may say 72 hours, I checked the website and it said EC can be taken within 5 days.
